Evil Doughnut

Food food food! It's our ultimate temptation during the Holiday season! I was trying my best to limit my food intake so that I can eat during reunions with family and friends. But then again, there were unplanned instances that made me like a magnet to food! haha Like this post, I shared with you on my previous post that we went to Tagaytay. Though it was super cold, we felt like eating ice cream. Yes we love to eat ice cream even when the weather is so cold. The only place I have thought that time was to have FIC at Cliffhouse. But not that I know that I will be hooked to a newly opened Doughnut stand at Cliffhouse. From entrance I already saw a signage but didn't expect anything yet. I thought that it was just another Doughnut stand.

Upon checking out, I discovered that they are offer different type of flavors that are not common with the popular Doughnut chains. But during that time, they were left with only 3 pieces of Doughnuts. So I was left getting them only. They were frying again some doughnuts but I can't wait for another 20 minutes anymore. So these 3 doughnuts are already worth a try.

The doughnuts were actually big enough in size and with different flavors. No streaks of oils left at the box. The doughnuts were still very fresh and soft. I can say that it's a good quality doughnut.

Calamansi Cream, I was able to taste the sourness of the Calamansi but it was not too sour. It's tolerable sour / flavorful sour. The filling was creamy but not that creamy na nakakaumay. Just right creaminess. I liked this.

This is a different variant and I was curious with this. This smelled so good! I was able to smell the strawberry as if I was opening a strawberry jam. The balsamic vinegar was very light that I wasn't really able to feel it much, just felt a little sourness. The strawberry was a little sweet and very good! This is so so for the balsamic flavor, but still good.

This is what I was excited. This is actually good, the chocolate was not too sweet. I was able to taste the bacon and the bacon was easy to chew. The bacon and chocolate blended together and didn't over powered the flavor of each other. This is good!

They also have specialty coffee which I wasn't able to try anymore. Hopefully on my next visit will be able to try the other flavors and maybe their coffee too.

Do check out Evil Doughnuts on your next Tagaytay trip.

P.S. This is not a sponsored post. :)

Have you tried Evil Doughnuts? Did you like it as much as I did?

Bak Kut Teh

Just a very quick post for today. I was gone for several days last week but since it was a business trip I didn't had the chance to document new food that I was able to have. I was just around somewhere in Asia and here's what I was able to try for the first time.

I already have heard about this food but it was only now that I was able to try this and it was in the airport already. This is Bak Kut Teh, it's like Ma Kut (Spareribs / Meat Bone soup) but with better flavored soup. The soup is more flavorful and a little spicy.

It is usually paired with this 3 side dishes... steamed soy peanut, vegetable (kiam chay) and Chinese doughnut. And of course like Ma Kut, Bak Kut Teh has it's own distinctive soy sauce that is really good (The soy sauce is covered in this photo.. I'm so sorry)!

Where's the best Bak Kut Teh?

KFC CO + Creations Crispy Cheese Chicken topped with bits of real Clover Chips

I've been eating Clover Chips lately with my office mates and I felt that Clover Chips is back from what I am used to, which is cheesy and have enough chips in a pack. So when I saw this new flavor of KFC at FB, I got curious and wanted to try it. :) The new creation / flavor of the moment of KFC is Crispy Cheese that is topped with bits of real Clover Chips.

This new flavor of KFC is not just available for the classic chicken but also with their fun shots. What's great is that you can also order this flavor from any of their classic chicken meals. And look, their meal for this flavor is very affordable with bonus of mash potato and chicken rice (their version of java rice).

Now sharing with you my experience of KFC Crispy Clover Chips Cheese Chicken.

And of course I requested for the thigh part! :) And now let's start with the rice. The chicken / java rice is very tasty and flavorful but not too salty. It's like fried rice. I appreciated that the rice is soft.

Moving on the the chicken. The breading of Clover Chips looks like the chicken was sprinkled with lots of cheese powder. But wait, it really tasted like the actual Clover Chips. The skin was still crispy, still the same texture with their original chicken including the meat. It was ok for me that the Clover Chips are with the chicken skin only since it's already salty. The meat is the same with the original. And by the way, the gravy for this flavor is different. It's tasty too, creamy and have the same taste as the sauce of ala king.

Lastly, the mashed potato for this meal has kernel corn. Yummy!

Did you like it as much as I did?

Cali Burger

And I finally tried Cali Burger! I've read many reviews and many posts how people are raving about Cali Burger and are dying to try it! Since it's just near our place it was easy for me to go and grab a bite of their burger. So here's my Cali Burger experience.

Cali Burger is located at the top level of Century City Mall like park area. Other restaurants were still close so it was a good thing that people are raving for Cali Burger, if not then people might not see their location.

I appreciated the whole feel of the restaurant. It feels very laid back relax as if I was in a surf place! The look of the whole place, furniture and even their LED / Big Tv screen. They also have outdoor place over looking the metro but there's really nothing to see, the view is not that good. It was also spacious.

Now let's move on to the menu and their food offerings.

Looking at their menu, they only have limited offerings. Just Beef or Chicken burger with the option of having it with cheese or double patty. We were looking forward to have onion rings but too bad they don't have it.

During our visit they have beer o' clock promo. Free beer for every combo meal. Luckily I saw this and asked for the beer. If I didn't ask for this offering, they didn't gave us. So you should ask for this.

May disclaimer na agad. hehe

After ordering, they provided us with the light up thing for them to inform us that we can already get our orders. So Cali Burger is a self service chain.

And the light lit up! It's time for me to get our burgers! Our orders came I think at the right phase, there were several people ordered before us but it didn't took Cali Burger a long time to bring out our orders.

Of course, I got their hamburger. I asked from the counter if what beef do they use and she told me that their beef burgers are made from Angus Beef.

My experience:
  • The actual burger is thin
  • I felt that it's a little bland
  • The bun was ok, normal
  • The fries were so good and big
  • The cheese was a little few, at first I didn't even tasted that there was cheese
  • Vegetables were fresh

closer look of the burger
We've also tried the milk shake. As I get older, I find myself eating more and more deadly foods and or drinks. Oh no! But of course I eat / drink them in moderation.

For this post, we tried chocolate milkshake. For me, I liked it but it wasn't that addicting. But it was good enough. Usual milk shake but flavorful. It's better to mix it again so that the chocolate won't be concentrated at the bottom.

Overall, it was ok but the price is actually expensive for the taste and size of the burgers. But the look of the restaurant and even the cups and trays were very in theme.

Here I was with my Cali Burger. :)

Rhad's Peanut Butter

I always eat breakfast everyday even if I don't feel hungry yet except if there's no work. haha But everyday I think I need to eat up to give me energy in the morning. My daily dose of breakfast is usually bread with either peanut butter, cheese, choco or any spread that you can name. :) Growing up I was used to eating bread only since it's easy to prepare and I eat fairly slow. haha So bread is the way to go, easy to bring along and prepare.

We still have a lot of spreads at home and some are on the line nearing expiration dates already but when I saw this peanut butter from Bag of Beans I got curious and I knew I still have to get it. And here we have it and brought it home with us.

It looks very home made and when I saw the ingredients that's the time it hit me to get it. It's made of extra virgin olive oil and muscovado sugar. This is a peanut butter healthier version though I think it's still not fully healthy but at least less the guilt. :)

It is widely know the benefits of extra virgin olive oil and muscovado sugar to have lesser calories than regular sugar. So it's worth a try! :)

Upon opening the oil floated at the top of the jar already so I mixed it. Then we placed it in the fridge as indicated on the label. And I have not tried it yet upon opening.

Looking at the actual peanut butter, it looks thick very peanut and seems like to have very peanut taste. But I was only able to try it after several days.

I have spread a lot of products for blogging purposes so that you will be able to see it clearly. Hala ang dami ko talaga nalagay. hehe

Just right out of the fridge, it looks very dark and thick but after a while it settles back to it's normal look.

The taste:
  • It actually doesn't taste super peanut only
  • It's a balance of peanut and sweet, but it's actually sweeter than the usual peanut butter that I usually have
  • It's doesn't leave oily feel
  • It smells sweet and peanuty
  • It has a different texture, creamy but with peanut texture
  • No crunchy feel of the peanut which I like
  • When just brought out of the fridge it has like a chocnut texture and mouthfeel and somehow the taste
  • I actually like it
  • Though it's a little pricey at 250pesos but it's a lot in a bottle and is made of good ingredients
More food post to come again. hehe

Picket Fence

A very quick post for today! Sharing with you a newly opened restaurant or should I say milk and ice cream  bar near our office. A new discovery for us to have a good lunch meal as we have a very poor canteen (poor offering of food).

Picket Fence is more of an Ice Cream house that also offers full meal food. They offer more on breakfast food and a little American type of food. Though they only have a few selection, I find it just right for an Ice Cream House.

On our first visit, it was a little hard to choose what menu to get as we find it a little expensive for a breakfast menu. But then it changed our mind when our orders were served. Each entry / serving was actually plenty, you get what you paid for! I had Tocilog (with garlic rice and 2 eggs), the amount of Tocino was actually a lot! My officemates and I decided to get their unlimited french fries and we had so much fun with it but we weren't able to maximize it as we only had 3 rounds of it. Next time, we will ensure to have more of it.haha

Today, we decided to visit Picket Fence again and here's what I ordered. I actually wanted to try their pancakes and get the spam menu! Good thing, one of my officemate also wanted to try the same menu and we decided to share!

Their pancake menu is 5 pieces per order and I say that it is a good pancake! It was soft, moist and very pancake. It's not just flour or bland taste of pancake. It's a "real" pancake. It even has blueberry on the side with butter and oh no!! WHIP CREAM!! Fattening! But oh well, it was delicious and that's all that matters! haha Palusot ba??? :)

This Spam menu is great for someone with big appetite like moi. hehehe Look at how generous they have per order. The SPAM are real and taste so good. Cooked just right! The bread was good too, it was fresh and soft. I love the hash brown as it was crunchy and flavorful. Both the SPAM and hash brown were not oily. And lastly the scrambled egg was great... I usually order sunny side up which I ordered with my Tocino visit and learned from the order of my officemate that their scrambled egg is one of a kind. It has a different taste (good one), I am just not so sure if they put milk with it but it's a little creamy and flavorful but not salty.

Order of my other office mate

Wasn't able to take pictures of our other orders (Tocilog, Spag and the unli fries). We would definitely be back and I would like to try their Spaghetti and of course we must try their Ice Cream. I hope they'll come out with a promotion for office peeps like us during weekdays.

The look of the whole place was very relaxed, casual and colorful. It gives a happy vibe plus their staff were nice and accommodating too. I do hope they deliver too.

Here's some photos of the place.
